About Drama School
Overview
What is drama school?
Drama schools are accredited institutions that provide training for people intending on careers in the performing arts. Many drama schools offer various courses beyond acting: for those interested in an offstage career in the arts, they have the choice of stage management, design, technical stagecraft and more.

What courses and qualifications are available?
Students can enrol in a wide range of performance and technical training. Today, graduating drama school students can depart with short course and foundation qualifications, Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Master (MA) degrees, amongst others. Some drama schools offer 1 or 2 year courses,

How do I apply?
Each institution and course will have different requirements. For acting applicants, auditions and workshops can be expected, plus written statements. For technical courses, any relevant experience or interest in the discipline will be an advantage.

How much does it cost?
Drama school, like university, has become increasingly expensive through a combination of living costs and, more significantly, the top up of tuition fees since 2006. Fortunately, there are financial options for those who cannot afford to pay their fees outright: the Student Loans Company, scholarships, bursaries and charitable organisations.

How do we help?
We can provide guidance from graduates of the best drama schools in the world. Our tutors are working actors and professional coaches, with a personal understanding of the application and audition process, scholarships and grants, and the rigours of the courses once successful. At LAA we believe it is vitally important to understand the challenges that lie ahead with a career in the arts and to prepare all students comprehensively.
